Obsideo was contracted by Tronox KZN Sands for the feasibility studies (gates 1to 4), engineering design, preparation of the necessary documents for procurement (by Tronox) and construction of a new Pig Caster Plant in the Central Processing Complex at their Empangeni Plant in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, in June 2022.
The new Pig Caster had to be fitted into a limited space in the active production plant next to an existing Pig Caster. This new 60tph single strand pig casting machine included ladle tilter, ingot bunker, hydraulic power pack, new hydraulic room and supporting and the integration into the existing infrastructure and controls.
