Project Description
Tronox contracted Obsideo for the bulk materials
handling detail design associated with the expansion
of Namaka Sands East Mine. The scope of work
included the relocation of a 2.2km trunk conveyor, a
new optimized Tailings Handling Facility (THF), a feed
conveyor to the THF, an extension of the 4.7km Dual
Carry Conveyor (DCC) as well as the transfer towers
from the trunk conveyor onto the DCC and from the
DCC onto the THF feed conveyor. The design also
encompasses the electrical MV expansion including
various mini substations to distribute power to each of
the new remotely located drives.
