Obsideo was commissioned to complete a concept study for Black Chrome Mine, also known as Mooihoek Mine. The study aimed to repurpose the spiral plant and integrate the crushing and milling circuits into it, optimizing reliability and operational expenses within the parameters of existing infrastructure.
After completing the study, Obsideo was contracted for the detailed design, procurement, and construction of the BCM plant optimization and integration project. The scope includes a new ROM stockpile with extraction tunnel, integration into the primary crushing circuit, relocation and integration of the secondary crushing circuit, overland transfer conveyors, a new intermediate stockpile with extraction tunnel, optimization of the spirals and dewatering circuit, as well as a coarse tailing stacking tower. The associated infrastructure includes a tailings transfer and return water system, overland piping, power distribution, substations, fire protection, and roads.
